Christos Georgis is R & D engineer in the Information Systems Laboratory of the Institute of Computer Science, FORTH, since 1991. He holds a Master of Science in System Architecture and a degree in Computer Science from University of Crete.
As part of his activities at the Center, he has participated in a large number of European and Greek research and development programs. His main interests include knowledge representation and reasoning, database systems, net-centric information systems, conceptual modeling, information retrieval systems, database and workflow management systems, semantically rich, large-scale, adaptive information systems, cultural informatics, document management systems and multilingual thesauri.
He is the design and development coordinator for the platforms developed within projects: Framework Programmes Consultation Platform (FPCP) – a web consultation platform for EU draft Framework Programmes (developed for PRAXIS network and GSRI) and BackBone Thesaurus & BBTalk - a web system for thesaurus maintenance for the Humanities developmed for Thesaurus Maintenance Working Group in the framework of DARIAH EU.
He was the design and development coordinator for the platforms developed within projects IdeaGarden (EU FP7), 3DSYSTEK (ΕΣΠΑ 2007-2013) and 3D-COFORM (EU FP7), a repository infrastructure for storing, managing and documenting digital information (data and metadata), as well as its related aquisition and processing processes.
Furthermore he was the design and development coordinator for the early versions of systems / products provided by the Information Systems Laboratory: SYNTHESIS - An Information System for administration, documentation and promotion of cultural instances and THEMAS Thesaurus Management System - A system for developing multilingual thesauri.
He was the development coordinator for systems developed in the Laboratory: the Semantic Index System (SIS), a versatile, semantic network information management system, especially suited for unlimited runtime metamodelling; the Thesaurus Management System (SIS-TMS), an ISO-compliant, SIS-based system for the development and management of multilingual thesauruse and WebTMS a web enabled, ISO-compliant, SIS-based system for the development and management of multilingual thesauruses.
